City of Alexandria to Host Stream Cleanup Event – Saturday April 12

The City of Alexandria is inviting the public to participate in its Earth Month cleanup event on Saturday, April 12, from 9 a.m. to 11a.m. at Four Mile Run Park, 3700 Commonwealth Avenue.

Participants will meet at the Commonwealth Avenue Cul-de-Sac near the Four Mile Run ballfields to sign-in and for an event briefing, including information on the cleanup boundaries, safety instructions, and why it is important to keep waterways clean.

The spring cleanup event is held in partnership with the Alice Ferguson Foundation's Potomac River Cleanup. The City has participated in this event for more than 20 years.

The Alice Ferguson Foundation works to inspire environmental stewardship through education and the appreciation to protect nature. The organization has hosted an annual Potomac River cleanup since 1984.

The City will provide gloves, bags, and first aid kits during the events. Participants are encouraged to dress appropriately, in long pants and covered footwear, and to bring water.

Registration for the cleanup is encouraged but not required to participate. To register or request additional information, contact Anthony.Minnick@alexandriava.gov.
