Senate Committee Advances Bartolotta Bill to Protect Vehicle Choice in Pennsylvania

HARRISBURG - Legislation sponsored by Sen. Camera Bartolotta (R-46) to prohibit future vehicle mandates in Pennsylvania was approved Monday by the Senate Transportation Committee.

Senate Bill 990 would protect Pennsylvanians' ability to choose their preferred vehicle by prohibiting future state mandates on specific vehicle purchases. This protects consumer choice, encourages innovation, and helps prevent higher costs associated with uniform mandates. The bill supports a comprehensive approach to transportation that includes gas and diesel-powered vehicles, hybrids, electric vehicles, and emerging technologies, allowing new advancements to develop and compete.

"When it comes to transportation and energy policy, Pennsylvanians deserve more choices, not fewer," Bartolotta said. "Government mandates pick winners and losers, raise costs for families, and slow innovation. My legislation protects consumer freedom and allows new technologies to compete and evolve naturally."

The bill now moves to the full Senate for consideration.
