The Edwin C. Gentzler Translation Center invites graduate students and faculty to submit proposals to lead individual sessions of the Translated Book Club.
The Translated Book Club promotes the reading of translated literature into English and recognizes and supports translators.
The club is open to community members from high school students to retirees, with a maximum of 15 people, and takes place at UMass Downtown in the late afternoon and early evening once each month during November, February, March, April and May. Llight refreshments are served during each meeting and the first eight readers to register for a Translated Book Club meeting receive a free copy of the translated book from the Gentzler Translation Center.
Those interested in submitting a proposal are asked to complete the application form by 5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29. Proposals will go through a blind selection process and be reviewed by a diverse group of stakeholders.
Those selected as Translated Book Club leaders can choose to receive a $500 stipend or $500 to be used on research expenses, sponsored by the Gentzler Translation Center.
