Ahern is proud to once again be recognized by the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Wisconsin with two BUILD Wisconsin Awards. This year's honors spotlight the award-winning Madison Confidential Office and our role in delivering highly specialized healthcare environments, including the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Proton Therapy Center.
Office Environmental Enhancements
The Madison Confidential Office, recipient of the Environmental Excellence Award, exemplifies advanced sustainable design with fully electrified HVAC and plumbing systems. The 60,000-square-foot facility-including 32,500 square feet of open-concept office space and 27,500 square feet of warehouse and logistics areas-was purpose-built for sustainability, efficiency, and long-term performance. Ahern's design team engineered high-performance mechanical and plumbing systems that operate roughly 30% more efficiently than current building code requirements. This all-electric approach reduces fossil fuel use and supports a cleaner, more resilient energy profile, illustrating how innovative engineering and design-build delivery can enhance both environmental outcomes and occupant comfort.
Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Proton Therapy
The Froedtert & MCW proton therapy award recognizes Ahern's multi-trade capabilities on a complex healthcare project. Leveraging a partnership spanning more than two decades, Ahern provided HVAC, plumbing, sheet metal, and fire protection, tying new systems into existing campus infrastructure while maintaining strict healthcare standards.
Careful coordination was essential-from setting a large air handling unit in a constrained area near critical hospital access points to scheduling work during off-hours to minimize disruption to patients and staff.
Celebrating Our Teams
These BUILD Wisconsin Awards reflect the dedication, skill, and collaboration of Ahern's field and shop professionals, project managers, designers, and partners. Ahern is grateful to its clients for their continued trust and to its teams whose work helps shape safer, more efficient spaces to work, receive care, and live.
