During his visit to the Republic of #Seychelles, H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, visited the Seychelles Coast Guard, the Regional Coordination Operations Centre (RCOC), & the National Information Sharing & Coordination Centre (NISCC) where he was received by H.E. Mr. James CAMILLE, Minister for Homeland Security & Civil Affairs
He received briefings on their critical role in advancing #maritime security, combating #piracy, illicit trafficking & illegal fishing, while strengthening regional information sharing & operational coordination.
The Chairperson commended these institutions as strong examples of the power of collective action, innovation & partnership in safeguarding Africa's maritime domain. He noted that their expertise & best practices can further strengthen maritime governance & security cooperation across the continent, support safer global sea lanes, & unlock the blue economy's potential for the benefit of Africa and the wider international community.
He also underscored their strong alignment with the AU's maritime strategy and the Lomé Charter.
