Gov. Beshear Makes Appointments to Kentucky Boards and Commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky.(Oct. 4, 2024) - Gov. Andy Beshear has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Waqar Saleem and J. Michael Foster and has appointed William Denham to the State Board of Medical Licensure to serve for terms expiring Aug.31, 2028.

• Waqar Saleem of Prospect is a physician at the University of Louisville and represents the Kentucky Medical Association as a member of the Board.
• Mike Foster of Hopkinsville is a self-employed attorney and represents citizens at-large as a member of the Board.
• William Denham of Maysville is a physician at Denham Medical Clinic and represents the Kentucky Medical Association as a member of the Board. He replaces Heidi Koenig, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Laura Disney to the Kentucky Board of Home Inspectors to represent real estate professionals and to serve for a term expiring September 12, 2027.

• Laura Disney of Winchester is a self-employed real estate agent. She replaces Paul Ogden, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Mary Lowry, Richard Stewart Perry and Alex Boone to the Kentucky Horse Park Commission to serve for terms expiring May 24, 2028.

• Mary Lowry of Pewee Valley is an equestrian competitor and trainer.
• Richard Stewart Perry of Lexington is the owner of an insurance agency.
• Alex Boone of Lexington is the chief executive officer at Sterling Ventures. He continues to serve as vice-chair of the Commission.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Gene Smith, Amy Staton, Stephanie Kennedy and John Park to the Kentucky Board of Veterinary Examiners.

• Gene Smith of Hazard is a veterinarian at Animal House Vet Clinic. He represents licensed veterinarians as a member of the Board and will serve for a term expiring Sept. 27, 2026.
• Amy Staton of Salt Lick is a licensed veterinary technologist at Morehead State University. She represents veterinary technicians as a member of the Board and will serve for a term expiring July 13, 2028.
• Stephanie Kennedy of Frankfort is a veterinarian at Frankfort Animal Clinic. She represents licensed veterinarians as a member of the Board and will serve for a term expiring Sept. 27, 2028.
• John Park of Winchester is a veterinarian at Park Equine Hospital. He represents licensed veterinarians as a member of the Board and will serve for a term expiring Sept. 27, 2028.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Lindsey Case to the Kentucky Airport Zoning Commission to serve for a term expiring Aug. 8, 2028.

• Lindsey Case of Louisa is an aviation teacher employed by the Lawrence County Board of Education.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Felicia Smith to the Southern Regional Education Board to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2028.

• Felicia Smith of Frankfort is the president of the National Center for Families Learning.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Jonathan Van Lahr and Anthony Tagavi to the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy to serve for terms expiring Dec. 31, 2028.

• Jonathan Van Lahr of Webster is a pharmacist at Save-Rite Drugs. He represents licensed pharmacists as a member of the Board.
• Anthony Tagavi of Lexington is the director of ambulatory pharmacy services at University of Kentucky Healthcare. He represents licensed pharmacists as a member of the Board.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Ryan Sadler to the Kentucky Center for the Arts Corporation to serve for a term expiring April 29, 2028.

• Ryan Sadler of Louisville is plan president for Passport by Molina Healthcare. He replaces Rahul Reddy, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed David Franklin and Josh Christensen and has appointed Tom Brown to the Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Commission.

• David Franklin of Versailles is an attorney at Franklin & Rapp. He represents members at-large as a member of the Commission and will serve for a term expiring May 16, 2027.
• Josh Christensen of Louisville is an orthopedic surgeon at Norton Orthopedic Specialists. He represents physicians licensed to practice medicine in Kentucky as a member of the Commission and will serve for a term expiring May 16, 2027.
• Tom Brown of Danville is a consultant for athletics and facilities at Danville high schools. He represents individuals with experience in sports marketing or promotion as a member of the Commission and replaces Joseph Miday, whose term has expired. Mr. Brown will serve for a term expiring Sept. 30, 2027.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Stephen Collins, Charles Weyland and Virginia Butler and has appointed Holly Wiedemann as members of the Kentucky Heritage Council to serve for terms expiring Aug. 6, 2028.

• Stephen Collins of Shelbyville is the funeral director at Hall Taylor Funeral Home. He will continue to serve as chairman of the Council.
• Charles Weyland of Louisville is an architect at City Properties Group.
• Virginia Butler of Maysville is a retired educator.
• Holly Wiedemann of Wilmore is the developer of affordable housing at AU Associates Inc. She replaces Maynard Crossland, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Lindsay Burton, Kimberly Clayton-Code, Jeanne Lee, Jonathan Haynes and Carrie Ballinger and has appointed Lu Ann Flanagan to the State Advisory Council for Gifted and Talented Education to serve for terms expiring June 30, 2027.

• Lindsay Burton of Lancaster is an elementary school teacher employed by the Garrard County Board of Education. She represents elementary school teachers as a member of the Council.
• Kimberly Clayton-Code of Crittenden is a professor at Northern Kentucky University. She represents postsecondary education institutions as a member of the Council.
• Jeanne Lee of Harlan is the district gifted and talented coordinator at Harlan County Schools. She represents coordinators of gifted and talented programs and services in local school districts as a member of the Council.
• Jonathan Haynes of Henderson is an educator at Henderson County Schools. He represents local board of education members as a member of the Council.
• Carrie Ballinger of McKee is the superintendent of the Rockcastle County Schools. She represents superintendents of local school districts as a member of the Council.
• Lu Ann Flanagan of Russell Springs is an educator employed by Russell County Schools and represents high school teachers as a member of the Council. She replaces Katherine Booth, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Jason Marion, Carl Groce, Robin Strader, John Cruse and Tony Hatton as members of the Kentucky Board of Certification of Water and Wastewater System Operators.

• Jason Marion of Richmond is a professor of environmental health at Eastern Kentucky University. He represents faculty members of colleges, universities or professional schools whose major field is related to water treatment, water distribution or wastewater treatment as a member of the Board and will serve for a term expiring July 31, 2026.
• Carl Groce of Frankfort is an operator for Professional Waster Water Services. He represents wastewater operators as a member of the Board and will serve for a term expiring July 31, 2027.
• Robin Strader of Clarkson is a water quality specialist at the Leitchfield Wastewater Treatment Plant. He represents wastewater operators as a member of the Board and will serve for a term expiring July 31, 2027.
• John Cruse of Hodgenville is a water system operator. He represents water system operators as a member of the Board and will serve for a term expiring July 31, 2027.
• Tony Hatton of Lawrenceburg is the commissioner of the Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection. He serves in an ex-officio capacity on the Board and represents the Energy and Environment Cabinet.
