WWU's chemistry department will host the ACS Catalysis Editor-in-Chief Cathleen Crudden 3:15-4:15 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 6 in SMATE 130.
Crudden will present on the use of special ligands attached to gold and other noble metals for making nanoclusters. She will also cover recent advances in reactions that use metal catalysts to make new carbon-carbon bonds.
The lecture is part of the Jean Dreyfus Lectureship for Undergraduate Institutions, an international program that connects expert researchers with undergraduate institutions and funds summer research fellowships for two undergraduate students.
In addition to the public lecture, Crudden will also meet with chemistry faculty to discuss the art of scientific publishing.
ACS Catalysis is a publication of the American Chemical Society focused on experimental and theoretical studies on molecules, macromolecules and materials that are catalytic in nature. Crudden has served as editor-in-chief of ACS Catalysis for 5 years. In addition, she is currently an A.V. Douglas Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario.
