LOS ANGELES - Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29), representative for California's 29th Congressional District, partnered with Central American Resource Center (CARECEN) to hold a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Workshop at Los Angeles Mission College. Congresswoman Rivas held her workshop as the Trump Administration's incompetence continues to create unprecedented delays in the DACA renewal processfor recipients. Attendees of the workshop were connected with immigration resources, legal guidance, and educational opportunities.
"Because of the Trump Administration's incompetence, DACA recipients are seeing delays of up to 8 months, which result in job loss and ultimately put recipients at greater risk of deportation." said Congresswoman Rivas. "In the San Fernando Valley, DACA renewal delays have created more fear, uncertainty, and instability in the lives of DACA recipients. I will continue fighting to ensure that our most vulnerable have a direct pathway to citizenship and can freely live their lives in the only country they have ever known. Thank you to Los Angeles Mission College and CARECEN for working with my office to bring critical resources directly to DACA students in the San Fernando Valley."
Background:
Congresswoman Rivas' DACA Workshop at Los Angeles Mission College was held in partnership with CARECEN and brought together about 30 students who are a part of the Los Angeles Mission College Dream Resource Center.
