What is the Texas 4-H Water Ambassador Program

The Water Ambassador Program was launched in 2017 as an elite initiative for high school students, aimed at educating, training, and empowering youth in Texas on topics related to water conservation, policy, management, and stewardship. This program seeks to cultivate the next generation of leaders in the water industry while raising awareness about the urgent need to manage and protect our precious water resources.

Program Highlights

• Knowledge Acquisition: Ambassadors will acquire in-depth knowledge in areas such as water technology, conveyance, quality, law, and policy.
• Networking Opportunities: Participants will have the chance to engage with industry professionals, researchers, and policymakers.
• Eligibility: High school students aged 14 and older who are current members of 4-H are encouraged to apply.
• Summer Tours: Students will participate in week-long tours during the summer, exploring various regions of Texas and learning about surface and groundwater management.
• Community Service: Participants are required to complete a minimum of 40 service hours over a 12-month period, which includes educating others through school presentations, local 4-H clubs, fairs, and community events.
