Melissa Woods hired for key new Peoria County leadership role
Peoria County is pleased to announce the hiring of Melissa Woods, AICP as our first Director of Strategic Projects & Capital Planning.
This new position will take on a number of projects related to the Peoria County Board's strategic plan, as well as other special projects. The position is also responsible for some of the County's capital improvement projects.
Woods comes to Peoria County from the Boston metropolitan area, where she spent about a decade working for the City of Somerville, Mass in the Planning and Zoning and Capital Projects departments.
Woods has a master's degree in urban and environmental policy and planning from Tufts University. Her first day with Peoria County is today, Monday, May 5, 2025.
