Los Angeles rental housing providers can get expert guidance on the city's eviction rules and rent control requirements, including formula changes that took effect earlier this year, through a two-part webinar series from the California Apartment Association.
The series covers the two local ordinances that together apply just cause eviction protections to nearly all residential rental units in Los Angeles: the Rent Stabilization Ordinance (RSO) and the Just Cause for Eviction Ordinance (JCO).
The first session, Eviction Rules in the City of Los Angeles, is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, at 10 a.m. and runs 90 minutes. Topics include which ordinance applies to a given unit, JCO registration and administrative fees, at-fault and no-fault eviction grounds under both laws, procedural requirements and Housing Department filing obligations, and relocation assistance calculations for no-fault evictions. CAA members pay $45 for live access or $55 for live plus on-demand. The session qualifies for two CCRM continuing education units.
The second session, Rent Control in the City of Los Angeles: The Rent Stabilization Ordinance, is scheduled for Wednesday, July 22, at 10 a.m. and runs 60 minutes. Topics include the RSO formula changes that took effect Feb. 2 - including the new 1%-4% annual increase range - allowable rent increase calculations, registration and notification requirements, notice requirements for rent increases, special increase rules, and security deposit interest requirements. CAA members pay $45 for live access or $55 for live plus on-demand. The session qualifies for one CCRM continuing education unit.
Members who register for both sessions through the bundle package pay $65 for live access or $85 for live plus on-demand. Non-member pricing is $95 (live) or $115 (live plus on-demand).
Both sessions are led by Whitney Prout, Executive Vice President of Legal Affairs for the California Apartment Association, and Mallory Homewood, Policy & Compliance Counsel, Local Government Affairs.
