I undertake to preserve Hungary as an island of security and calm even in this upside-down world

"I undertake to preserve Hungary as an island of security and calm even in this upside-down world," Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated at the state celebration organised to mark the anniversary of the 1848-1849 revolution and freedom fight in Kossuth Lajos tér in Budapest. In his speech, the Prime Minister-President of Fidesz also sent a message to the Ukrainian president and asked the supporters of the government parties to renew their anti-war alliance concluded in the previous elections.

The Prime Minister delivered a speech on the stage erected in front of the Parliament Building before a crowd of people filling the neighbouring streets after the attendees of the Peace March organised by the Civil Solidarity Forum - Civil Solidarity Non-Profit Foundation, starting from the Buda bridgehead of Margaret Bridge, arrived at the square. Mr Orbán described the crowd as fantastic, stressing that on this day in Budapest, they could not find better company.

He highlighted that however great the multitude was, if brought together by hatred and anger, that would never lead to freedom. Multitude is never enough in itself, freedom can only grow out of love, and can only be strengthened by unity, he added. He stated: they will never allow Hungary to be governed by hatred and anger.

He also stressed that today, Brussels, too, had disguised themselves as Hungarians. Their 12 points are the 12 points of servitude. They are about what the Brusselites wish for, but "we the children of March will never resign ourselves to the 12 points of the Hungarians being turned into Brussels 12 points by collaborators in Budapest. "We will not allow them to sell what we have built in 16 years for 30 Brussels silver pieces," he said.

We will not surrender our patriotic and Christian Constitution, the reduction of household energy bills, the thirteenth and fourteenth monthly pensions, our world champion family support system and Europe's best system of taxation, he listed, adding that we will protect the support provided for mothers, our children, and "we will not allow our national colours to be replaced with Ukrainian or rainbow flags."

He recalled: we celebrate the Rákóczi uprising, the 1848 freedom fight and our 1956 revolution, each of which we lost, but not because we lost our minds. Those who could celebrate their military victory over us exist no longer. Today, the victorious Viennese and tsarist courts should be celebrating here, but they are no more. Neither can the victorious Ottoman Empire celebrate the Battle of Mohács because it is no more. Neither is the Third Reich occupying Hungary in 1944 celebrating, while likewise, the Soviet Union crushing the 1956 revolution is unable to celebrate because it is, too, no more, he listed.

"They are no more. But we're still here, and will be here. Even if Brussels parachutists drop down here from the sky in the hundreds," he said, adding that "we'll collect them, dust their pants and send them back. Some to Brussels, some to Kiev." Hungary is a thousand-year-old state, this is no country for them, he pointed out.

Mr Orbán also sent a message to the Ukrainian president, saying "You can see, Ukrainians, you can see, Zelenskyy. This is the thousand-year-old state of the Hungarians." "Do you think that you can frighten us with an oil blockade, with blackmail, or by threatening our leaders? Come to your senses, and stop this," he called on them, highlighting that those who want to break the Hungarians should wake up "quite a few centuries earlier."

"You have enough problems as it is on the Eastern front, why did you attack us?" he asked, adding that the Hungarians are a peace-loving and tolerant people, "give us our oil, and then roll in your vans to the Brussels till for the money of the western people, now that they can't say no."

"The Seas of Sorrow boil with a rage," he said in continuation, with reference to the fact that there is a war in the East and there is also a war in the Middle East. He added that Ukraine was shutting down the transit of oil towards Hungary, while the other war was shutting down the transit of oil towards the oceans.

He recalled that the 2015 migration invasion had begun in such a way that a war had broken out in Syria and masses in the millions had set out for Europe. He warned: Iran is nine times bigger than Syria with a population of 90 million, there are 400 million people living in the region, and additionally, the Israeli-Muslim war has moved into Western Europe because they have let migrants in.

"We should thank the Lord for the fact that our hearts were in the right place and we had the courage to say no and to not let them in. I pledge that as long as I'm prime minister, this will stay that way," he laid down.

In his opinion, "the earth is shaking" under the European economy as a million industrial jobs have been terminated in the West. He added that we had had a difficult four years in Hungary as well, and said that it is unfair that we are compelled to protect the country against troubles caused by others. "But we have protected our country, today, Hungary is one of Europe's safest countries. We have managed to protect jobs, the reduction of household energy bills, families, and have not let pensioners down either," he pointed out.

He stressed: we have had enough of permanent threats, we are longing for boring years, but this is not about to happen, "trying times are again knocking on our door." He warned: Brussels has taken upon itself the war in Ukraine, Europe is preparing for war and has already changed over to a wartime economy. Rather than keeping trouble away from themselves, they are marching right into it: even more weapons, even more money, even more soldiers, the Prime Minister listed, taking the view that they are facing trials that not even "old warhorses" like himself had seen.

He stressed: they do not know the exact day or hour when the first soldier of the Brussels administration will set foot on Ukrainian soil, but they do know for certain that this will happen. They themselves blare this proudly and enthusiastically, they can hardly wait for soldiers with European Union ensigns to set out for Ukraine.

"This is what we must stay out of, this is what we must protect ourselves against," he stated.

"I undertake to preserve Hungary as an island of security and calm in this upside-down world," he laid down.

Mr Orbán said it is time that both Kiev and Brussels understood that "our sons will not die for Ukraine, but will live for Hungary."

He said in a war it does not matter who you are, what you have achieved, what you are good at, what you want to achieve in life; the only thing that matters is whether you hold the machine gun well or not, the only thing that matters is how fast you run after or from the enemy, the only thing that matters is how many people you have killed and how many bullets you have dodged.

"But this is not the fate we intend for our children. We don't intend for the mothers of our children the fate that their sons should be buried in foreign soil, under foreign flags," he said, highlighting that he is "an old-timer," he has fought for long enough to know when they are facing truly difficult and important elections. "We will have such an election in twenty-eight days' time. We will vote not only for a parliament and a government, but we will choose a fate for ourselves and the Hungarians coming after us," he added.

"We have arrived at a crossroads, I know these situations. I myself stood at a crossroads when as a young man, I said no to the Soviets. Don't forget that we don't invite them in, we send them home," he said. He added: he was also at a crossroads when as prime minister he said no to migration to the Germans, and when he said no to the war to Brussels. "I am at a crossroads again, together with you, when I say no to the Ukrainians. We must decide who should form a government: me or Zelenskyy. With due modesty, I recommend myself," he stated.

In continuation, he said bureaucrats from Brussels and wartime mafiosos from Kiev are blackmailing, threatening and frightening Hungary. Each one with what they have: from Brussels they are blocking our money, while from Ukraine they are blocking our oil. They want a change of governments in Hungary because "we refuse to give them the key to the till."

"Because we're not allowing them to dump cheap Ukrainian grain on Hungarian farmers, we're not allowing large multinationals, Shells and Erstes, to take your money away. Because we're not allowing the Ukrainians to move millions of euros and gold ingots in Hungary to God only knows what end, and we're not allowing Ukraine to enter the EU and to thereby bring the war onto Hungary's neck," he listed.

He highlighted: this is the time to keep our wits about us because they want to take the Hungarians' money to Brussels, and from there to Ukraine. Because for war you need money, and in Brussels they have run out of it. They also need the Hungarians' money, but not even that is enough, they must also take out loans which must be guaranteed by the Member States. "Our money is not enough for them, they even want to lay their hands on our children's and grandchildren's money. With reference to Ukraine, they want to turn you into debt slaves over multiple generations," Mr Orbán said, adding that "as long as I'm prime minister, I will not allow anyone to take away what's yours and what you're entitled to, I will not allow anyone to pocket Hungary."

He also laid down: "We must renew the anti-war alliance we concluded in the previous elections." He highlighted that we had 28 tough days ahead of us. We must win not the way we did four years ago, but even better; we will need not just as many votes as we obtained four years ago, but more. He added that three million votes were not the ceiling, but the threshold. "We must not just reach it, but must exceed it. We must score a historic victory because the next government will have historic responsibility," he stressed.

Mr Orbán said after the April elections, rather than restless leaders, we will need calm, composed and self-confident leaders. "A clear head, cold blood, a steady hand. Strategic calm and experience. And we have all that. In fact, only we have all that. Only Fidesz and the Christian Democratic People's Party can offer the security that we now need. "And we are the guarantee for that," he pointed out.

He warned however: knowing that this is the case is one thing, going to vote is another. We have the knowledge, but we do not have the votes yet, we could have them on 12 April. "And we will if you work through the next 28 days without compromise, sparing no effort," he indicated.

"And then we will score a brilliant victory. So brilliant that Brussels and Kiev will be left blinking in disbelief. And our poor River Tisza can finally regain its honour. Fidesz is the safe choice. Your country needs you. Let there be peace, liberty and concord," the Prime Minister said, concluding his speech.
