Scott Pace, professor of international affairs at the George Washington University Elliott School of International Affairs and the director of the Space Policy Institute, received the inaugural International Astronautical Federation Global Award for Academic and Scientific Top Research Achievement.
Pace received the award during the opening ceremony of the International Astronautical Congress 2026 on Oct. 5. His research focuses on civil, commercial and national security space policy and the management of technical innovation.
Pace also serves on the faculty of the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration and previously directed the International Institute of Science and Technology Policy and its Master of Arts program.
He served as the executive secretary of the National Space Council from July 2017 to January 2021.
