Due to cold temperatures and icy conditions in the aftermath of snow, in-person classes on the West Virginia University Morgantown Campus will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 21).
This is a late start for classes only. On-campus operations will continue as scheduled.
Employees who work remotely or on a hybrid schedule are not affected and should continue their normal schedule. On-site employees should communicate with their supervisors to determine if they are required to work on site during the late start.
WVU Health Sciencesfaculty, staff and students who work in patient care areas or in clinical rotations should check with their dean, program director or clinic manager.
Once classes begin at 11 a.m., faculty members are asked to be flexible and understanding with students if they are unable to make it classes.
"With the cold and snow, this late start for classes will allow our University employees a little more time to prepare campus for our students," University Police Chief Sherry St. Clairsaid. "When venturing out, we ask all members of our University community to use caution in ice, snow and slush."
Facilities Managementwill continue to work on roads and grounds maintenance through the day Tuesday (Jan. 21).
University officials continue to closely monitor reports from the National Weather Service, as well as state, local and campus conditions.
Any necessary updates will be provided through a variety of outlets, including the WVU Alertsystem, MIX email and students.wvu.edu, MOUNTAINEER E-News, email and enews.wvu.edu. Social media accounts such as @WVUsafety on Xand the WVU Safety and Wellness Facebookwill also share updates.
Decisions regarding the WVU Techand Potomac State Collegecampuses are made separately based on local conditions. WVU Extensionwill follow its internal inclement weather policy, which can be found here.
A WVU Alert is part of the University's three-tiered emergency notification system.
