The City of Mobile will institute a general curfew beginning at 7 p.m. this evening, Oct. 9 through 6 a.m. Oct. 10 as Hurricane Isaias approaches the area.
The city is asking residents to stay in their homes during this time to allow first responders and other city staff to safely access the area and survey any damage the storm may cause. The biggest impacts from the significant weather event are expected to be storm surge, rain and wind damage.
For emergency services, residents are asked to call 911. For issues involving city services, like storm debris, clogged storm drains, potholes, or missed trash and garbage pickups, reach out to 311, or 251-208-5311. The 311 system can also be reached via a phone application, or through the web portal on the city's website. Residents can access the web portal by visiting: https://cityofmobile.public.311service.com/. The non-emergency number for the Mobile Police Department is 251-208-7211.
"We ask that residents find a safe place to ride out the storm and stay there, especially as conditions deteriorate throughout the day," Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis said. "Our dedicated crews and public safety personnel stand ready to assist in clean-up efforts as soon as Isaias has safely passed through our area."
