The TASA Midwinter Conferencewill proceed as planned January 25-28 at the Henry B. González Convention Center in San Antonio. Our staff arrived early to make final preparations and to be on site ahead of the weather. We're looking forward to welcoming those who are able to attend safely.
At the same time, we strongly encourage all attendees and exhibitors to prioritize personal safety when making travel decisions.
On Saturday morning, the San Antonio Express-News reported the following forecast for the area:
The winter warning will go into effect at 6 a.m. across the Hill Country, while San Antonio's warning will start 3 p.m. Both warnings will end at noon Sunday. A winter storm warning means that incoming weather conditions are likely to result in significant ice and sleet accumulations, with significant travel disruptions expected. In San Antonio, temperatures are expected to fall below freezing around 3-4 p.m. Saturday. Overall freezing rain accumulations will be slightly lower, but between a tenth to two tenths of an inch is still possible. That is enough to cause dangerous road conditions across the metro area Saturday night through Sunday.
If you have not yet traveled to San Antonio, please carefully check weather forecasts and road conditions along your route before departing and use your best judgment when determining whether travel is safe.
To allow for flexibility, please note that while the conference welcome reception begins Sunday evening, sessions will not begin until Monday morning, and programming will continue until about noon on Wednesday. Attendees may check in and pick up badges during any of the following times:
Sunday, January 25 | 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
Monday, January 26 | 7 a.m.-4 p.m.
Tuesday, January 27 | 7 a.m.-2 p.m.
We are allowing Monday move-in for exhibitors this year due to the weather. Staff will be on-site in the Exhibit Hall as early as 6 a.m., Monday, January 26.
We understand that weather conditions may impact travel plans for some registrants and exhibitors, and we recognize that these decisions can be difficult and costly. Please know that we sincerely appreciate the time, resources, and commitment required to attend. If you are unable to join us due to weather or travel concerns, we encourage you to review our cancellation policy.
TASA will continue to monitor conditions closely and share updates as needed. Above all, we urge everyone to make the choice that best ensures their safety, and we urge all those in attendance to be very careful on walkways, especially outdoors, as they can become icy. Please always err on the side of caution.
