Statement by the High Representative on behalf of the European Union on the alignment of certain countries with Council Decision concerning restrictive measures directed[...]

On 29 January 2026, the Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2026/2391 amending Decision 2011/72/CFSP.

The Council Decision extends the existing restrictive measures for an additional twelve months, until 31 January 2027. Moreover, the Council Decision amends the list of persons and entities subject to restrictive measures as set out in the Annex to Council Decision 2011/72/CFSP. Finally, it amends the information relating to the application of the rights of defence and the right to effective judicial protection in that Annex.

Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Moldova (Republic of), Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia and Ukraine align themselves with this Council Decision.

They will ensure that their national policies conform to this Council Decision.

The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it.
