BLUEFIELD, W.Va. - Governor Patrick Morrisey concluded a series of appearances throughout West Virginia today promoting the state's application for the Rural Health Transformation Program. Stopping in Parkersburg, Moundsville, Fairmont, and Bluefield, the governor highlighted programs that will enhance access to quality, affordable healthcare and foster economic growth throughout the state.
"We're ready to provide that model for the whole country, because we've been given an opportunity - a chance under the Big, Beautiful Bill - with rural health transformation to do some incredible things," said Governor Morrisey at a speech in Parkersburg. "We're laying out a plan that's not only going to be good for West Virginia, but the country as a whole."
These ambitious investments will be made possible thanks to President Donald Trump's Big Beautiful Bill. If approved, West Virginia will receive at least $100 million per year for five years to modernize rural healthcare and improve health outcomes.
The application was developed through broad stakeholder engagement, including public input, roundtables, and a statewide tele-townhall with more than 17,000 participants.
"I think it's more than just a new approach to healthcare. It's a different way we can strengthen our economy, really supercharge our workforce, and help the people of our state," Morrisey concluded.
