U.S. Chamber, Virginia Peninsula Chamber Host U.S. Representative Rob Wittman for Roundtable on Tax Reform

NEWPORT NEWS, VA - Today, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce hosted U.S. Rob Wittman (R-VA-01) for a roundtable discussion in Newport News, Virginia with local business leaders on the pro-growth business tax provisions in President Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which was signed into law on July 4th. This forward-looking, pro-growth policy is vital to maintaining America's prosperity and competitive edge and will create new opportunities for American workers and businesses to thrive.

We applaud Congressman Wittman for working to ensure that the constituents of the 1st District of Virginia continue to benefit from long-term tax relief, fostering growth for workers and businesses across his district and beyond.

"The U.S. Chamber thanks Congressman Wittman for today's discussion on the importance of the pro-growth tax provisions in the Working Families Tax Cut and the ways they benefit Virginia workers, small businesses, and families," said Moore Hallmark, Vice President and Managing Director of Regional Government Affairs, U.S. Chamber of Commerce. "Congressman Wittman recognizes how this legislation empowers businesses to invest confidently in their business and workforce and, in turn, support their future growth."

"Virginia's businesses drive innovation, create jobs, and support local economies," said Congressman Wittman. "The Working Families Tax Cut advances pro-growth policies that provide certainty for employers and relief for workers by putting more of their hard-earned money back in their pockets. It was great to hear from local leaders of the business community about the positive impact these policies are having across Virginia and the ways we can continue to work together to deliver results."

"We're grateful to Rob Wittman and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for taking the time to engage with our local business community," said Bob McKenna, President and CEO of the Virginia Peninsula Chamber of Commerce. "By listening to the perspectives of small businesses, industries, and entrepreneurs across the Peninsula, they help ensure our region's priorities are heard and represented. Partnerships like this strengthen the connection between local leaders and national policymakers, supporting a strong, dynamic economy where businesses and families can grow and succeed."

"Virginia Technical Academy is honored to host this important discussion with Congressman Rob Wittman, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the Virginia Peninsula Chamber," said David Gillespie, President of Virginia Technical Academy. "Bringing together small businesses, workforce leaders, and policymakers is critical to ensuring that pro-growth tax policies translate into real opportunities-more jobs, stronger businesses, and a skilled workforce ready to meet today's demand."

The U.S. Chamber's tax roundtables are a part of its Growing America's Future campaign, an education and advocacy blitz in support of maintaining a pro-growth tax code to foster a robust U.S. economy that benefits all Americans. To date, the Chamber has hosted over 85 tax roundtables, and these events will continue over the coming months in communities across the country.
