Scooter driver dies in June 15 crash near the 400 block of North Circle Drive

On Monday, June 15, 2026, at approximately 12:40 p.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) was notified of a vehicle vs. scooter traffic crash near the 400 block of North Circle Drive. The driver of the scooter was transported to a local hospital. Despite immediate medical intervention, the scooter driver succumbed to their injuries.

Due to the nature of the crash, the Major Crash Team (MCT) responded to take over the investigation. At this time, speed and alcohol are not being considered as contributing factors. The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped, remained on scene, and cooperated fully with the investigation. The investigation is still ongoing.

On June 16, 2026, CSPD was notified by the El Paso County Coroner's Office that the scooter driver had been positively identified as 44-year-old Bethany Selby.

This crash marks the 28th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2026. At this time last year, the city experienced 18 traffic fatalities. Over the past 365 days, there have been 63 traffic-related fatalities in Colorado Springs.
