Claflin University Host 2026 Research, Scholarship and Creative Expression Day

ORANGEBURG, S.C. - Claflin University's Sponsored Programs and Research Office will host its annual Research, Scholarship, and Creative Expression (RSCE) Day on Feb. 19-20, 2026. The two-day event promotes and celebrates the diverse endeavors of Claflin scholars, researchers, and artists. Research, Scholarship, and Creative Expression Day serves as a platform to showcase groundbreaking discoveries, insightful analyses, and captivating works of art. It also aims to inspire curiosity, encourage critical thinking, and promote the exchange of ideas across disciplines.

The program begins Thursday, Feb. 19, at 8:40 a.m. in the Grace T. Kennedy (GTK) Auditorium, with opening remarks from Dr. Verlie Tisdale, vice provost of academic affairs, and Dr. Jonathan Smalls, associate vice provost of research. Faculty presentations will follow at 9 a.m. in the GTK and James S. Thomas (JST) classrooms.

Dr. Taiese Bingham-Hickman, Executive Director of The Leader Alliance and Assistant Director of Pathways and Pipelines in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion at Brown University, will be the guest speaker for the noon luncheon in Ministers' Hall. "The Leadership Alliance: A Legacy of Purpose" will be the topic of her discussion.

On Friday, Feb. 20, the CU Theatre Ensemble's Touring Company will perform from 8:30 - 9:20 a.m. in the W.V. Middleton Auditorium. Student presentations will begin at 9:35 a.m. in WVM and JST classrooms. Peer voting starts at 10 a.m.

Emily M. Dickens, J.D., will be the featured speaker at the awards ceremony at 3 p.m. in Ballroom B in the New Student Center. Dickens is the Chief of Staff and Head of Government Affairs at the Society for Human Resource Management (SRHM). Student and faculty award winners will be announced during the ceremony toconclude the program.
