Notice of Upcoming Utility Work
Starting Monday, April 14, crews will begin underground utility work as part of the Fones Road Corridor Project. This work involves digging into the roadway and along the edge of the road to prepare to relocate overhead power to a Joint Utility Trench (JUT). Crews will also be digging into driveways in the same area. Steel plates will be placed to maintain driveway access, but if any temporary driveway closures are needed, residents and businesses will be notified one day in advance.
The work will take place on Fones Road between the north entrance of Home Depot and 17th Way SE. Work is expected to last for approximately two weeks. In addition, Water Main work will continue from the south entrance of Home Depot moving north.
Work on Fones Road will become increasingly more complex as multiple crews move forward project tasks. It is highly recommended that drivers use alternate routes. This will help ensure the safety of work crews and people that live or work on Fones Road.
If you must use Fones Road drive slowly.
This project will transform Fones Road into a safer corridor. It will add sidewalks and crossings for pedestrians, separated bike lanes, an improved trail crossing, improvements for vehicle flow and truck access, and lighting. Landscaping, new pavement, and upgraded utilities are also part of the project.
