On Wednesday, with Governor Gavin Newsom out of state, Speaker of the Assembly Robert Rivas will serve as Acting Governor of California.
SACRAMENTO - Speaker of the Assembly Robert Rivas will serve as Acting Governor of California on Wednesday.
The California Constitution provides that, when the Governor, Lieutenant Governor and President pro Tempore are absent from the state, the Speaker of the Assembly acts as Governor.
Speaker Rivas represents Central Coast communities in the Salinas Valley and San Benito, Monterey, Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties. He is one of the first Latinos to serve as Acting Governor of California.
