For this last week of Financial Literacy Month, the Merriman Financial Literacy Program (MFLP) presents three events focused on the theme of investing.
Join the Merriman Financial Literacy Program for Investing 101, a beginner-friendly workshop tailored specifically for students who want an introduction to personal investing.
This session will cover when and why to start investing, the power of compound interest, and the basics of common investment options, such as stocks, bonds, and ETFs.
This workshop will provide practical knowledge to help you get started with confidence.
If you've ever thought about investing but want to do so in a way that aligns with your values, this panel discussion is for you!
Join Merriman Financial Literacy Program Lead Peer Mentor Effie Brickell, who will moderate a panel to explore the essential tension between wanting to live your life in a way that aligns with your values under a system that encourages the opposite.
The discussion will focus on topics such as moral responsibilities in investing, the necessity of investing for retirement, and the ethics of different investment strategies.
Attending this panel will equip you with a greater understanding of how investing plays a role in your life - and the world.
Join legendary investor, WWU alum and namesake of the Merriman Financial Literacy Program, Paul Merriman, for a conversation about the financial decisions that shape your future more than anything else you do.
In this session, you'll learn the 12 choices that can add - or cost - you a million dollars, the only market history that truly matters, and how to avoid the three most expensive lies in investing.
Most importantly, you'll leave knowing how to start - and how to stay the course.
More event registration details are available on the Merriman Financial Literacy Program website. If you have any questions or require assistance with accessibility, please contact Peter Wagner at [email protected].
The Merriman Financial Literacy Program at WWU was founded thanks to the generous donation of Paul and Zan Merriman. The program provides students, faculty, staff, and the larger community with free financial literacy resources through 1-1 peer mentoring, online courses through iGrad, and workshops.
