Deceased Motorcyclist Identified from Fatal Crash on April 12, 2026

On April 12th, 2026, at approximately 10:06 p.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) received a call regarding a motorcycle versus vehicle crash in the 3400 block of Hancock Expressway. Preliminary investigation revealed the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it impacted the rear of the moving vehicle in front of it. The motorcycle rider was determined to be deceased on scene.

Due to the circumstances of the crash, the CSPD Major Crash Team (MCT) responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation. Currently, speed is suspected of being a contributing factor in this crash.

On April 14th, 2026, the El Paso County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy on the deceased individual and identified him as 39-year-old Jeffrey Lampman.

No formal charges have been filed, and the investigation remains open.

This incident marks the 15th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2026. At this time last year, the city experienced seven traffic fatalities. Over the past 365 days, there have been 62 traffic-related fatalities in Colorado Springs.
