The Grid: From generation to your meter, City of Columbia does it all

Electricity is a fundamental utility, but have you ever wondered how electricity gets to your home? How is it all connected?

The City of Columbia Electric Utility will be hosting an informational event called The Grid: From Generation to Your Meter. The City will hold this event on June 25 at the Activity & Recreation Center (ARC), opens in a new window1701 W. Ash St. There will be two sessions, one from 1:30-3:30 p.m. and one from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Utilities will hold the event in a classroom-style setting as City staff discuss what the grid is and how interconnectivity works within our community. Some topics include: how energy gets from the power plant to the meters outside your homes, energy generation and interactive scenarios.
