NMU Platform Personalities Hosts Anthony Ramos

Northern Michigan University's Platform Personalities organization will host "An Evening with Anthony Ramos" on Monday, Nov. 17, in the Northern Center Grand Ballroom. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the event will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is free for NMU students (1 ticket per ID) and $5 for the general public.

The singer and actor originated the dual role of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton in the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical and feature film Hamilton, which won a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album and earned Ramos an Emmy nomination for his performance.

Ramos also starred in the film adaptation of the musical In the Heights. For his portrayal of Usnavi, he earned a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy Film and was included in Indie Wire and W Magazine's year-end Best Performance roundup.

His other film credits include Twisters, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, and A Star is Born. He is currently developing a new animated version of Bob the Builder that he is producing and will also star in.

Ramos is of Puerto Rican descent, and was born and raised in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Originally interested in baseball in his youth, he switched his focus after high school, earning a scholarship to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy to pursue his passion of acting.

Platform Personalities is a student organization dedicated to bringing educational, motivational and inspirational speakers to campus.
