Wyden Announces Town Halls in Polk, Yamhill, Linn counties

Senator will hold open-to-all town halls this weekend in Polk, Yamhill and Linn counties. Rep. Janelle Bynum will co-host town hall in Linn County.

Portland - U.S. Senator Ron Wyden today announced he will hold open-to-all town halls this weekend in Polk, Yamhill and Linn counties.

U.S. Rep. Janelle Bynum will co-host the town hall in Linn County.

Heading into these three town halls on Friday, Feb. 6 and Saturday, Feb. 7, Wyden has held 1,146 open-to-all town halls statewide in keeping his promise to hold at least one town hall each year in each of Oregon's 36 counties.

"I've kept my promise to hold these town halls throughout Oregon because the First Amendment is an essential American muscle that only gets stronger with exercise," Wyden said. "And I very much look forward to Oregonians exercising these free speech muscles by showing up and speaking out in a face-to-face setting that's open for everybody in Polk, Yamhill and Linn counties to voice their views, ask questions and share ideas."

"Connecting with my constituents is the most important part of my job," said Rep. Bynum. "I am excited to hear about what's top of mind for Oregonians as I bring more stories back to DC to keep fighting for our state."

The schedule for the upcoming town halls is as follows:

Friday, Feb. 6

• Polk County, 1:30 pm, Western Oregon University's Werner University Center, Pacific Room 400 Monmouth Ave N., Monmouth
• Yamhill County, 5 pm, McMinnville Armory, 333 SE Armory Way, McMinnville

Saturday, Feb. 7,

• Linn County, 10 am, Linn-Benton Community College's Russell Tripp Performance Center, 6500 Pacific Hwy., Albany

For everyone's security, backpacks and large bags will not be allowed in the town halls. Similar to major sporting events, there is a clear bag policy for town halls, allowing only clear bags (max 12″x 6″x12″), one-gallon clear plastic bags, or small clutches (max 4.5″x 6.5″), plus essential items like medical bags or infant necessities, with no storage for disallowed bags. Backpacks and non-clear bags are prohibited, though medical/infant needs have exceptions. Doors will open one hour before the town hall start time for attendees.
