ALL-NEW STAR PRINCESS CRUISE SHIP MAKES DEBUT AT PORT OF LOS ANGELES

Princess Cruises' Newest Ship Sailing to Destinations Along Pacific Coast, Mexican Riviera and Panama Canal Through 2027

April 29, 2026 - The Port of Los Angeles and Princess Cruises are celebrating the arrival of the cruise company's newest Sphere-class ship, Star Princess.
The latest and newest ship in the Princess Cruises' fleet, Star Princess offers travelers several new options over the next 18 months for cruises embarking from the LA Waterfront.
"Princess Cruises has been an important and invaluable partner to the Port of Los Angeles for more than 60 years," said Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka. "For Princess to add yet another cruise ship sailing from our LA Waterfront is terrific news, and a notable milestone in our decades-long partnership."
"Bringing Star Princess to Los Angeles for her West Coast debut is a proud moment for Princess Cruises," said Marie Lee, Princess Cruises Chief Marketing Officer. "Los Angeles has always held a special place in our history - our very first cruise sailed from the Port of Los Angeles to the Mexican Riviera in 1965. As a leader in West Coast cruising, we're honored to continue that legacy with a ship that represents the next evolution of our guest experience, while expanding access to sought-after itineraries from Alaska, Mexico, the California Coast and Hawaii."
For more than six decades, Princess Cruises has been Los Angeles' hometown cruise line, with more frequent sailings out of the Los Angeles Cruise Terminal over the last decade than any other cruise line. Since 2015, Princess has racked up nearly 800 ship visits in L.A.
The new 177,800-ton, 4,300-passenger Star Princess features 2,157 total guest staterooms, including 80 suites, more than 120 mini suites, and 1,000+ balcony staterooms. Passengers can select from 30 distinct dining and bar venues, and enjoy live entertainment at five distinct venues on the ship, including a 990-guest-capacity arena. The ship features five different pools, a fitness center and wellness studio, a luxury spa, as well as a new sports court for pickleball and basketball.
The Star Princess will offer the following departures from Los Angeles:
• October 4, 2026: 16-Day Panama Canal - Ocean to Ocean
• April 19, 2027: 7-Day Mexican Riviera
• April 26, 2027: 4-Day Pacific Coastal
• October 10, 2027: 16-Day Panama Canal - Ocean to Ocean
In addition to Star Princess, Discovery Princess, Emerald Princess and Crown Princess provide roundtrips sailings to Mexico, California Coast, and Hawaii each offering distinct onboard experiences and world-class amenities.
In 2025, the Port set a new record for cruises departing from the LA Waterfront, with 241 calls and 1.6 million passengers, which generated an estimated $300 million for the local economy. Every cruise ship call generates an estimated $1.3 million in local revenue within a two-mile radius of the Port.
