Illinois 25 resurfacing begins April 6

CHICAGO - The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today that patching and resurfacing of Illinois 25 (Saint Charles Street) from north of Stearns Road, in Bartlett, to Bluff City Boulevard, in Elgin, will require intermittent daytime lane closures beginning, weather permitting, Monday, April 6.

The $4.3 million project, which consists of resurfacing the 2.5-mile stretch of Illinois 25, shoulder widening, ADA upgrades, along with curbs, sidewalk and drainage repairs, is anticipated to be completed in November. Access to residences and businesses within the work zone will be maintained throughout construction.

The public can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Alternate routes are encouraged. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.

Over the next six years, IDOT is planning to improve 7,107 lane miles of highway and 8.4 million square feet of bridge deck as part of Rebuild Illinois, which is investing $33.2 billion into all modes of transportation. Accomplishments through Year Six of Rebuild Illinois include almost $20.8 billion of improvements statewide to 21,309 lane miles of highway, 815 bridges and 1,181 additional safety improvements.
