Technical teams from Mexican government agencies and the UN in Mexico met to advance the development of the Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2026-2031.
Representatives from 22 Mexican government departments, the Foreign Ministry, 22 United Nations System (UNS) agencies, and the resident coordinator's office participated in a technical exchange to define the program framework for the new Mexico Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2026-2031.
During the meeting, the participants reviewed the progress made on designing the 2026-2031 Cooperation Framework, along with the expected outcomes and strategic priorities that will guide the document, based on a shared vision of inclusive, sustainable, and resilient development, fully aligned with the 2030 Agenda and the National Development Plan 2025-2030.
The program framework for 2026-2031 focuses on four strategic areas: Governance and Rule of Law; Social Inclusion and Substantive Equality; Inclusive and Resilient Economy; and Environment and Climate Change, while also incorporating four cross-cutting thematic priorities: women's rights, human mobility, indigenous and Afro-Mexican peoples, and youth.
The Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights, Enrique Ochoa, said that the collaboration between Mexico and the United Nations System has produced concrete results: from strengthening public policies in health, education, and social protection, to designing emergency response mechanisms, combating gender violence, and promoting decent employment. "This alliance has been, and will continue to be, an essential pillar for our country's development."
Alejandra del Moral, Executive Director of the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID), said that the new cooperation framework should encourage Mexico's development under the principle of "leaving no one behind" and create synergies with federal agencies to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
"At AMEXCID, we are convinced that international cooperation should serve as a catalyst for human development, environmental conservation, combating multidimensional poverty, and eliminating structural and emerging inequalities," she stated.
Finally, the UN Resident Coordinator in Mexico, Peter Grohmann, highlighted the importance of this effort in establishing a more ambitious, dynamic cooperation framework tailored to national priorities, reaffirming the Mexican government's commitment to multilateralism and strengthening strategic alliances that place human rights, equality, and sustainability at the center of public action.
