Three years ago, on 11 May 2022, the European Commission adopted the European strategy for a better internet for kids (BIK+), a comprehensive approach to ensuring the protection, respect, and empowerment of children and young people online.
The aim of BIK+ is to support and complement the EU legal framework, notably the Audiovisual Media Services Directive and the Digital Services Act's implementation to create a safer digital space where the fundamental rights of young users are protected.
