Testa Bill to Establish Guardrails for "Flock Cameras," Protect Residents From Surveillance

Senator Michael Testa (R-Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland) announced today that he plans to introduce legislation establishing commonsense guardrails on "Flock Cameras" and other Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) technologies. The bill would protect the privacy of New Jersey residents while preserving its value as a law enforcement tool.

"New Jersey residents should not have to wonder whether their movements are quietly being tracked or surrender their privacy because technology makes it possible," said Senator Testa. "The legislation that I will be introducing will establish commonsense protections for law-abiding citizens while still allowing law enforcement to use this technology to catch dangerous criminals."

Senator Testa will formally introduce the bill during the Senate's next quorum call, likely in September.
