NORD Announces Athlete of the Week

The New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Commission continues its Athlete of the Week program, recognizing outstanding youth athletes from NORD youth and middle school leagues. This 11-week initiative highlights athletes who excel on the field and demonstrate leadership. Selected by coaches and NORD officials, each week's honoree is featured on WGNO's Friday Night Football, airing at 11 p.m.

Eighth Athlete of the Week: Ke'Jon T. Abron

This week's Athlete of the Week is Ke'Jon T. Abron, a 14-year-old running back and safety for the KIPP Morial Wolfpack. In a thrilling performance on Oct. 16, Ke'Jon scored two touchdowns and dominated on defense, leading his team to victory over the KIPP Central City Tigers in NORD's Middle School Division. In addition to his athletic achievements, Ke'Jon is also the 8th grade homecoming king at KIPP Ernest N. "Dutch" Morial Charter School. The school's homecoming game will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 11 a.m. at Joe Brown Stadium, inside Joe W. Brown Park.

A multi-sport athlete, Ke'Jon also competes in basketball and track, drawing inspiration from his favorite athlete, Alvin Kamara. His versatility and leadership on and off the field continue to impress coaches and peers alike.

Congratulations to Ke'Jon for his outstanding performance and homecoming honor. We look forward to continuing to celebrate the achievements of NORD's remarkable young athletes throughout the season.
