RFS reallocation is unlawful, will make EPA’s most expensive reg. even more costly to consumers
WASHINGTON, D.C. - American Fuel & Petrochemical Manufacturers (AFPM) Senior Vice President of Government Relations and Policy Geoff Moody issued the following statement on calls for EPA to reallocate pending 2025 RFS regulatory relief onto refiners.
"Make no mistake, reallocation is unlawful, and the whole point of it is to make the RFS - and by extension gasoline and diesel - more expensive. A costlier RFS does nothing to help American consumers or energy dominance.
"Moreover, small refinery exemptions for 2025 do not harm biofuel production in 2026 or 2027. The U.S. biomass-based diesel industry is not on pace to meet the 2026-27 standards, much less a more aggressive mandate. All the exemptions will do is reduce the size of compliance deficits or the need to import more biofuels to displace U.S.-produced gasoline and diesel." - Geoff Moody, AFPM SVP of Government Relations and Policy
