Lawton Lions continue Earth Day tradition with donation of redbud tree to Cameron

It began in 2009 when Lawton Lions members donated their first Eastern Redbud tree to Cameron University on Earth Day. Almost every year since, the organization, now known as the Lawton Northeast On-Line Branch Lions Club, has continued to give a tree to Cameron, resulting in colorful pink and purple blossoms dotting the campus each spring.

This year marked the 16th tree from the organization - another Eastern Redbud - this time in Cameron Park across University Drive from the Academic Commons. It has been placed along the northern edge of the park, near the Art Building.

Chapter president Dan Farrell was joined by Lions Cyndy Farrell, Ron and Linda Gaines, Al Granger, Ashley Payne, Doug Rice and Marge Williams for the presentation to campus officials. The donation also served as Lawton's participation in the Lions Club International's environmental week of service.
