Fifth Annual Downtown Arts Program Showcases Original Artwork by Greensboro Artists

Ten local artists have been chosen by Creative Greensboro to have their work showcased on the 11 digital kiosks located throughout downtown Greensboro starting Monday, February 16. Each of the 10 selected artists received a $500 honorarium and will have their artwork displayed for 10 weeks.

The artists were among a pool of 33 applicants and selected by a panel review team comprised of Cultural Affairs Commissioners, community members, and City staff.

The artists and their works of art chosen for the Downtown Arts kiosk program are:

  • Ash Hein, "Can't You See" (digital)
  • Ahmed Ibrahim, "Sudanese Soul" (oil, acrylic and ink)
  • May Simone, "Sanctuary " (photography)
  • Jasmin Cumber, "Epoch Fragments" (oil on canvas)
  • Todgi Dozier, "Born Targets" (acrylic on canvas)
  • Dwayne Howell, "An Offering for Sally" (acrylic)
  • Deandra Eubanks, "Rhythm of the Universe" (acrylic paint)
  • Iishmaul Campbell, "BeYOUtiful" (oil on canvas)
  • Monica Hilario, "The Weave of Time" (oil on canvas)
  • Karena Graves, "My Grandmother's Dream Catch" (hand-tufted cotton)

Ash Hein and Ahmed Ibrahim kick off the 2026-27 group of artists featured in the digital kiosks with their pieces, "Can't You See" and "Sudanese Soul." The kiosks will display the artists' name, artwork, the artwork's title and medium, and a QR code that kiosk viewers can use to learn more about the artists and their work.

About the First Artists
Ash Hein is a visual artist who creates characters and shapes called "glyphs" to explore consciousness, connection, and the world around her. Hein holds a bachelor's degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and has created commissioned designs for the Miriam P. Brenner Children's Museum.

Ahmed Ibrahim is a Sudanese visual artist and graphic designer who has been based in Greensboro since 2024. With over 25 years of experience, his work reinterprets Sudanese folklore and cultural traditions through contemporary visual storytelling. He holds both bachelor's and master's degrees in graphic design from the Sudan University of Science and Technology, and a Higher Diploma in Folklore from the University of Khartoum.
