Property Maintenance and Code Compliance

The Town of Fort Myers Beach is committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all residents, businesses, and visitors. As part of this commitment, we actively enforce the Town's Property Maintenance Code to address issues related to unkept or neglected properties.

We understand the importance of these standards to our community's quality of life and are doing everything we can to respond to complaints, identify violations, and ensure compliance. Despite operating with limited staff and a high volume of responsibilities, our Code Compliance team is working diligently to uphold these standards and protect the integrity of our neighborhoods.

Common violations include:

  • Overgrown vegetation exceeding 12 inches
  • Accumulation of junk, trash, or debris
  • Structural disrepair (e.g., damaged stairs, loose fascia)
  • Pest infestations
  • Improper trash container placement
  • No silt fence when required (i.e. vacant or under construction home)

We ask for your cooperation in maintaining your property and reporting concerns when necessary. Together, we can keep Fort Myers Beach beautiful, safe, and resilient.
