Free 6-Week Workshop “Cancer: Thriving & Surviving” Returns to Shore Cancer Center Jan. 28

Shore Medical Center and the Cape Atlantic Coalition for Health are once again offering the free six-week workshop, Cancer: Thriving & Surviving, designed for cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers. This empowering program will take place at Shore Cancer Center every Tuesday from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m., beginning January 28 and concluding March 4. Shore Cancer Center is located across from Shore Medical Center at the corner of Medical Center Way and Shore Road in Somers Point.

Developed by Stanford University, the workshop equips participants-whether newly diagnosed, undergoing treatment, or living beyond cancer-with practical skills and confidence to manage their health and maintain an active, fulfilling life. Sessions are interactive and encourage mutual support among participants.

Key topics include:

  • Managing cancer-related challenges: Techniques for coping with fatigue, pain, isolation, sleep issues, and uncertainty.
  • Setting goals: Strategies for prioritizing and achieving personal goals to improve quality of life.
  • Nutrition and exercise: Tips for maintaining a healthy diet and incorporating appropriate physical activity.
  • Communication: Skills for improving interactions with family, friends, and healthcare providers.
  • Treatment decision-making: Insights into understanding treatment options and complementary therapies.

This workshop is open to anyone navigating the challenges of a cancer diagnosis, as well as caregivers who play a vital support role. Participants will also receive a complimentary copy of Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions, a valuable resource for continued support after the workshop ends.

Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. To learn more or to register, call the Cape Atlantic Coalition for Health at 609-653-3923.
