President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan received the delegation led by Su Hui, Vice Chairperson of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
Welcoming the guests, President Vahagn Khachaturyan noted:
"I am pleased to host You at the Residence of the President of the Republic. I hope that this visit will contribute to the further development of relations between our two countries.
Armenian-Chinese relations can be viewed on two levels. The first is the ties between our peoples, which go back thousands of years and have created an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect, a tradition that continues to this day. The second is the diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and the People's Republic of China, which were established in 1992.
In recent days, high-level meetings held in China have elevated our bilateral political relations to the level of strategic partnership. Relations with China are one of the important directions of our foreign policy, and cooperation within the framework of this strategic partnership will open new opportunities for our countries."
Su Hui expressed gratitude for the reception and stated:
"First of all, allow me to convey to You the warm greetings of the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping. In a few days Armenia will celebrate the 34th anniversary of its Independence, and on this occasion I would also like to pass on President Xi Jinping's congratulatory message. On behalf of my delegation, I would also like to congratulate You and Your colleagues on this important occasion."
During the meeting, the sides discussed various areas of Armenian-Chinese relations. It was mutually emphasized that economic ties have been developing dynamically in recent years and that there are broad opportunities for new initiatives, including the promotion of investment projects, cooperation in infrastructure, and in the field of high technologies.
It was also noted that the effective partnership between the two countries in international platforms contributes to the protection of mutual interests and to the strengthening of bilateral political dialogue.
Turning to the humanitarian sphere, the sides highlighted the full realization of the cooperation potential in the fields of education and science. In this regard, the activity of the Yerevan Armenian-Chinese Friendship School was singled out as a successful example, as it has played an important role for years in expanding cultural and educational ties between the two peoples.
President Vahagn Khachaturyan expressed gratitude to the people and authorities of China for the humanitarian and development-oriented assistance extended to Armenia over the years.
Regional developments were also addressed during the conversation. In this context, the implementation of Armenia's proposed "Crossroads of Peace" project was discussed, which could create new opportunities for the restoration of transport and economic links, as well as for the establishment of stability and long-term peace in the region.
