State Route 82 El Camino Real Roadway Renewal project Lane Closures from Howard Ave. to Clark Dr.

San Mateo County ― Caltrans has updated the lane closure schedule on the State Route (SR) 82 El Camino Real Roadway Renewal project.

Lane closures are now scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays from Howard Ave. to Clark Dr. for potholing work.

  • Thursday, March 12 & Friday, March 13
  • Monday, March 16 - Friday, March 20

Potholing is the process of identifying utilities under the roadway to visually verify the exact depth and type of utilities present to avoid damage before paving work begins.

Full roadway closures continue from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each weekday from Oak Grove Ave. to Carmelita Ave. for tree removals.

  • Monday, March 16 - Friday, March 20

Please be aware that the discovery of Anna's Hummingbird and Oak Titmouse nests may require changes to the closure schedule at short notice.

Detour: Oak Grove to Carmelita

Driving north on El Camino Real, turn right on Oak Grove, left on California, left on Carmelita, and right on El Camino Real.

Driving south on El Camino Real, turn left on Carmelita, right on California, right on Oak Grove , and left on El Camino Real.

The $173M El Camino Real roadway rehabilitation project will maintain El Camino Real as a safe, accessible, and reliable transportation corridor. The project encompasses repaving the road and upgrading sidewalks for enhanced mobility. It also aims to reduce localized flooding and to improve visibility.
