High-Level Officials’ Meeting Held in Seoul in Preparation for the Korea–Central Asia Summit

On April 10, 2026, the first meeting of Senior Officials was held in Seoul in preparation for the First Summit of Heads of State of the Republic of Korea and Central Asian countries.

The meeting was attended by deputy foreign ministers of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and the Republic of Korea. On the Uzbek side, the meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Olimjon Abdullaev.

As the host country, the Korean side presented the concept of the upcoming summit.

The sides exchanged views on enriching the agenda of cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Central Asian countries based on shared historical and cultural heritage, mutual benefit, equality, and a forward-looking approach.

The delegations agreed to continue cooperation in this format with the aim of jointly shaping the substantive program of the first-ever meeting of the Heads of State of the Republic of Korea and Central Asian countries.

On the occasion of the first meeting of Senior Officials, a separate meeting was held between the heads of Central Asian delegations and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Cho Hyun. The sides noted that the upcoming summit would open a new chapter in the history of cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Central Asian countries, in line with the requirements of the times and innovative development.
