Fall Events At UAA

Fall semester is in full swing at Anchorage and our community campuses, and there's no shortage of things to do! Whether you're into lectures, karaoke, planetarium shows or hands-on culinary classes for both adults and kids, there's something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

We're also thrilled to invite you to some of UAA's most anticipated annual events. Mark your calendars for the College of Arts and Sciences Community Lecture Series, kicking off on Oct. 2 with special guest, retired NPR host Melissa Block. And don't miss Homecoming Week, running from Oct. 4-12, where we'll be rolling out the red carpet to welcome community members and alumni back for a week full of celebration and tradition.

October

  • Oct. 2 - "On Air: A Life at NPR" with Melissa Block (retired NPR host)
  • Oct. 3 - An Evening of Economics Insight with NPR's Planet Money
  • Oct. 4-12 - UAA Homecoming
  • Oct. 4 - College of Business and Public Policy Showcase: Join us for an evening bringing together community, alumni, students and friends to explore the future of AI and innovation. Enjoy refreshments, program sessions with pioneers in AI, and networking with students. Witness Aurora, the AI Dog, and hear from experts like Dr. Victoria Coleman and Andy Trainor. Net proceeds support CBPP student scholarships and opportunities.

  • Oct. 7 - Alaska Native Studies and Multicultural Student Services: Perseverance Theatre Presentation
  • Oct. 9 - Anchorage Alaska College and Career Fair:UAA welcomes high school students, their families and school counselors to join us in the Alaska Airlines Center to connect with representatives from colleges, universities and training and apprenticeship programs, U.S. military and employers to explore education and career goals.
  • Oct. 9 - Latin@ Student Union Interest Meeting
  • Oct. 9 - AK Health Fair at Mat-Su College 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Oct. 10 - Retirement Celebration for Dean Steve Rollins
  • UAA Planetarium Public Shows: Oct. 11, Oct. 18, Oct. 25, Nov. 8, Nov. 15, Nov. 22, Dec. 20
  • Oct. 11 - Alumni Homecoming Luncheon
  • Oct. 14 - Indigenous Peoples' Day: "Drums of Winter" screening and panel discussion
  • Oct 15 - Angry Inuk Film Screening
  • Oct. 18 - UAA Cares for Kids: UAA Cares for Kids day provides free dental services to youth, ages 3 to 17. During this special event, the dental hygiene students provide free cleanings, fluoride, sealants and x-rays, while supervised by a dentist and hygienists. The dental hygiene students also provide additional information on dental care and ways to improve at-home care. The appointment durations may last up to two hours to complete care. There are limited spots for this event, please contact the front desk assistance team for additional information.

  • Oct. 24 - "Night of the Living Dead" panel discussion with Deb Mole

  • Oct. 25 - QT Halloween Homecoming
  • Oct. 26 - Haunted Halloween Fun Night:Anchorage's largest indoor trick-or-treat event for children and their families. Hosted by the Club Council and Student Organization Services, this spook-tacular event will take place in the Student Union Building with a morning and afternoon session for all your little ghouls!
  • Oct. 26 - Youth Culinary Arts Club - Stocks and Soups 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
  • Oct. 27 - Adult Culinary Arts Club - Stocks and Soups
  • Oct. 28 - Elizabeth Tower Endowment Lecture by Dylan Robinson
  • Oct. 30 - "Caribou and the Arctic on Uncertain Ground" with Seth Kantner (author/photographer) and Paddy Sullivan (UAA scientist)

Howl for the Home Team: Sporting events

College-Alumni Nights with Seawolf Athletics: UAA alumni are invited to the Alaska Airlines Center to Howl for the Home Team at College-Alumni Nights with Seawolf Athletics, co-hosted by Alumni Relations, Athletics and the five UAA academic colleges. Each College-Alumni Night offers something special - swag, half-time activities, drawings for prizes - during select Seawolf volleyball, basketball or gymnastics competitions.

On these nights:

  • Alumni receive one complimentary ticket ($10 value) and up to three (3) guest tickets for $5 each
  • Free swag (while supplies last), special game announcements, fun half time activities

Remember:

  • Parking is always free on Seawolf game nights at the Alaska Airlines Center
  • UAA students are always free
  • Children 5 and under are ALWAYS free
