Caribbean: passing of hurricane Melissa (30 October 2025)
France expresses its solidarity with the Caribbean countries hit by Hurricane Melissa. This hurricane of historic proportions has caused many deaths and extensive damage.
France is today preparing to send humanitarian aid to Jamaica. Kits containing basic essentials and water-treatment units will be delivered by the French Armed Forces in the Caribbean, under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
The French embassies in the countries affected, with the support of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, particularly through our Crisis and Support Centre, are mobilized and in touch with the French communities and French people temporarily in the area.
