A message from the Prime Minister for the holidays

Dear colleagues,

As we mark the end of a decisive year for Canada's future, I want to extend my sincere gratitude to the dedicated members of Canada's public service.

In an era of significant change and uncertainty, we have started the work of this new government at a speed, scope, and scale not seen in generations. I want to thank each and every one of you for your continued hard work and resolve as we work together to deliver change and build a stronger Canada.

What we've achieved together in 2025 is nothing short of remarkable, and you should take great pride in your contributions.

You helped operationalise a new government in record time. Together, we welcomed the King to open Parliament. We put Canada on a path to 2% defence spending, then 5%, and we enacted an ambitious new plan to rearm, rebuild, and reinvest in the Canadian Armed Forces. We welcomed the world to Kananaskis, Alberta, for the G7 Leaders' Summit. We delivered the middle-class tax cut. We made it easier to buy Canadian - reducing internal trade barriers and introducing a new Buy Canadian Policy. We invested billions of dollars in tariff relief to protect and reskill Canada's strategic industries. We launched three new federal agencies - the Major Projects Office, Build Canada Homes, and the Defence Investment Agency - teams that are enabling us to build big things in this country. We also announced nearly a dozen new international economic and security partnerships, and passed a Budget with generational investments to connect, diversify, and propel our economy.

This progress has been possible because of your hard work, dedication, and relentless belief in Canada.

We started as we mean to go on. As we look ahead to 2026, I know we will meet next year's challenges and opportunities with the same focus and ambition.
