County Office & Facility Holiday Closures
While a majority of county departments will be closed or operating under altered hours in observance of the upcoming holidays, several departments and facilities remain open.
Departments and facilities open throughout the holiday weekend include:
- Marion County Parks & Recreation facilities will be open from sunrise to sunset throughout the holiday weekend.
- Marion County Animal Control continues to be available 24/7 at 352-732-9111.
- Marion County Fire Rescue and Marion County Public Safety Communications will continue to be available 24/7 via 911.
Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025, operating schedules include:
- All county administrative offices will close at noon
- Animal Services shelter will close at noon
- Baseline Transfer Station/Landfill and all recycling centers will be open from 7 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Forest Community Center will close at noon
- Marion Oaks Community Center will close at noon
- Rainbow Lakes Community Center will close at noon
- Silver Springs Shores Community Center will close at noon
Thursday, Dec. 25, 2025, closures include:
- All county administrative offices
- All Parks & Recreation offices
- All Public Library System locations
- Baseline Transfer Station/Landfill and all recycling centers
- Forest Community Center
- Marion Oaks Community Center
- Rainbow Lakes Community Center
- Silver Springs Shores Community Center
Friday, Dec. 26, 2025, operating schedules include:
ALL recycling centers will be open 7 a.m.-5 p.m. to accommodate holiday disposal.
Office and facility closures include:
- All county administrative offices
- All Parks & Recreation offices
- All Public Library System locations
- Forest Community Center
- Marion Oaks Community Center
- Rainbow Lakes Community Center
- Silver Springs Shores Community Center
- Solid Waste administrative office
Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025
- County offices and facilities return to regular schedules.
Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025
- County offices and facilities remain operating on regular schedules.
Thursday, Jan. 1 2026, closures include:
- All county administrative offices

- All Solid Waste facilities; Baseline Transfer Station/Landfill and all recycling centers
