The University of Evansville library is pleased to announce a featured exhibition of work by local artist Thomas MaVeety Sr., on display June 1 through July 1.
A reception and "Meet the Artist" event will be held on Wednesday, June 3, from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in the Bower-Suhrheinrich Library. The event is open to the campus community and the public.
MaVeety, a lifelong Evansville resident, presents a collection of pen-and-ink wash and charcoal drawings inspired by local architecture, neighborhoods, and familiar city landmarks. His work reflects both a personal connection to the Evansville community and a longstanding appreciation for visual storytelling through traditional media.
"I have called Evansville home for the last 61 years, and many of the scenes I draw are places that have shaped my life and memories," MaVeety said. "It is an honor to share this work at the University of Evansville, a place that holds meaning for my family and our community."
The exhibition features a range of local subjects rendered in charcoal and pen-and-ink wash, including downtown scenes, historic buildings, and riverfront views. MaVeety's work has gained local attention through community sharing and social media, leading to the development of this public exhibition.
The exhibition will remain on display through July 1.
