BOULDER, Colo. - The City of Boulder is offering a courtesy extension to this month's sales tax filings for businesses affected by the recent Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) or the outages caused by the wind events on Wednesday and Friday.
Monthly sales tax submissions from local businesses are due on the 20 of each month. Businesses which were affected by the PSPS may request the filing extension and will be given a courtesy waiver of late payment penalties.
"While the collection of this revenue is important to the city's budget, we understand that many businesses were focused this week on preparing for shutoffs, trying to minimize losses caused by the extreme weather," said City Manager Nuria Rivera-Vandermyde. "We completely understand this priority and are happy to consider requests for extensions to provide late payment penalty waivers."
Local businesses that request the extension will have until Wednesday, Dec. 24 to file and pay their taxes and may contact the tax team at [email protected]to request a courtesy extension and waiver due to the event.
