On Sunday 09 November, Deputy Lindsay de Sausmarez will attend the National Service of Remembrance in London to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph on behalf of the governments and people of Guernsey, Alderney and Sark, honouring those who fought and died in both World Wars and other conflicts.
This will be the first time that Deputy de Sausmarez has had the opportunity to attend the service to lay a wreath, following her election as President of the Policy & Resources Committee in July this year.
The wreath is laid on behalf of the governments and communities of the whole Bailiwick of Guernsey. Since the invitation to lay a wreath was first extended to the Bailiwick in 2019, the honour has been shared between representatives of Guernsey, Alderney and Sark. For 2025, it was agreed that Deputy de Sausmarez would lay the wreath.
Deputy Lindsay de Sausmarez said:
"I feel deeply privileged to attend the National Service of Remembrance this year and to lay a wreath at the Cenotaph on behalf of the people and governments of the islands of Guernsey, Alderney and Sark. This act of remembrance is important to all our communities to commemorate the contribution and sacrifice of men and women from our islands during the two World Wars and other conflicts."
