Albares signs agreement with SEGIB to advance preparations and coordination for Ibero-American Summit in Madrid

​The Minister for Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, today signed an agreement with the Ibero-American Secretary-General, Andrés Allamand, to facilitate coordination of the preparation, organisation and running of the Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government to be held in Madrid on 4 and 5 November, and of all the sectoral ministerial meetings, forums and gatherings of the Ibero-American Conference.

With the signing of this agreement, negotiated by the Pro Tempore Secretariat and the Ibero-American General Secretariat, preparations are moving forward for this major multilateral event, the motto of which is 'Ibero-America. Together we build our Community. Together we project it towards the future and towards the world'.

In accordance with this regulatory framework, Spain and SEGIB have signed this agreement to facilitate coordination and SEGIB's logistical and technical support to Spain as Pro Tempore Secretariat, ensuring greater coordination between both signatories on all organisational, technical and logistical matters.

The Pro Tempore Secretariat has been holding numerous preparatory meetings to ensure that the Ibero-American Summit produces tangible declarations and agreements that have a direct and positive impact on the citizens of the countries that make up the Ibero-American Community. These meetings have identified strategic priorities for action, the results of which will be reflected both in the Final Declaration and in the Special Declarations that form part of the community' body of work.
